Nine US service members died after two helicopters from the 101st Airborne Division crashed in southwestern Kentucky on Wednesday, according to a US Army official. The source said there were no survivors.

Two HH60 Blackhawk helicopters from the 101st Airborne Division crashed in Trigg County, Kentucky, around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Fort Campbell statement.

The statement posted on the base’s Facebook page detailed that “crew members were flying two HH60 Blackhawk helicopters during a routine training mission when the incident occurred.”

Kentucky State Police assisted authorities at Fort Campbell in Trigg County after an “aircraft incident” in a rural area near Lancaster Road and Highway 272, according to Kentucky State Police Post 1 spokeswoman Sarah Burgess.
