The FBI is conducting a search of President Joe Biden’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on Wednesday as a special prosecutor’s investigation into his handling of classified material begins in shape.

“Today, with the full support and cooperation of the President, the Department of Justice is conducting a planned search of his home in Rehoboth, Delaware,” Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer wrote in a statement.

“In accordance with standard Department of Justice procedures, in the interest of operational security and integrity, the Department sought to do this work without prior public notice, and we agreed to cooperate,” Bauer said. “Today’s search is one more step in a thorough and timely Department of Justice process that we will continue to fully support and facilitate. We will have more information at the end of today’s search.”

Reporters based in the coastal community observed black sport utility vehicles and sedans arriving at the home mid-morning.

The FBI search of Rehoboth is the third known time federal agents have searched properties associated with Biden for classified material.

The FBI previously searched Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and found what his attorney described as multiple items containing classified material. That search occurred on January 20.

The FBI also searched the Washington office of the Penn Biden Center in mid-November after Biden’s lawyers first discovered classified material in a locked cabinet in the think tank.
