Kaivan Dave has a very unique story that led him to the world of health and wellness and the creation of his company, Awesome Coffee. He is an entrepreneur who is passionate about ecommerce, leadership, and much more. He moved from India to the United States at a young age and had to learn how to adapt and fit in without knowing any english at all.

“Just like DNA my story is unique. Moving from India at age of 13, I didn’t speak a word of English and did not fit in (Culture shock). Since then, my life has been nothing but uncomfortable. I’ve gone through so many different jobs, failed businesses but one thing that I’ve never done is, I’ve never given up on myself and my dreams. All of these lessons have helped me find my super power and that is to believe in myself. When life gets very uncomfortable you’ve to have faith and believe in yourself because if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else is going to either,” Kaivan recounts.

Kaivan originally got involved in the health and wellness industry after finding himself in a very hard place a few years back. He needed a way to get back to his normal life and found his way out through health and wellness.

“In 2016, I was in a very dark place in my life and during that phase I started getting more into health and nutrition and that completely changed my life. Once I saw the impact it had in my own life, I wanted to be able to share that with people who could use health & nutrition to improve their lives and feel confident, and healthy,” Kaivan explains.

What helped Kaivan get over this difficult hump is by learning the power of patience. He is a self described fast moving person, but he had to learn how to overcome this habit and slow down. This has helped him learn how to not compete with others and just focus on the things that made him successful in the business world.

“One of the biggest obstacles that I’ve overcome in my entrepreneurial journey has been not giving up on myself. I’m someone who wants to move fast and quick, but over the last few years, I’ve learned the power of patience. Now, I don’t feel like I have to rush and move fast. Now, I move at my own speed and not try to compete with anybody else. That’s one of the biggest obstacles that I’ve overcome in my career. This endeavor is a culmination of many cycles of failure but a force of sheer determination to make an impact to those around me. I’ve taken these learning failures to grow professionally, mentally and physically and I encourage others to do the same – to take the chances and risks but to go out there to make a difference, Kaivan states.

This is one of the ways that Kaivan has been able to focus inward to be his best self and focus on the business. The other way he does this is by internalizing and trying to understand what customers really want from the business. He tries to meet those demands as much as possible.

“The secret to differentiating from your competition is how well you are positioning and branding your product or services. I spend the majority of my time really thinking about the emotional benefits of our products and how it’s going to help our customers improve their life,” Kaivan comments.

Kaivan’s advice for those wishing to start their own business is to fully understand that a business is difficult work and not for the weak of heart.

“The first advice would be that we all have to understand that building a business and being an entrepreneur is not for everyone – so first figure out if this is the right thing for you in your life or not. Second is really understand why you want to build a business and what do you want from the business as well. And the last one is to remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint.  You will have to think long-term, strategically and you’re going to have to put in a lot more hours than anyone within your organization and be prepared for hard work persistence, consistency and patience,” Kaivan advises.
